I think religion is like a lifeboat floating in the ocean. If it's the thing you know, it is overwhelming to think about leaving it and seeing what else is out there. The ocean is mysterious and full of wonderful interesting unknowns. Swimming takes effort, but without it, all you see is the lifeboat and the surface. |

I have very fond memories of swimming in Walden Pond when we lived in Boston. You'd swim past a log and see all these turtles sunning themselves. Slightly disturbing if you thought about how many more were swimming around your toes, but also rather wonderful. |

Swimming and athletics are the big gigs at the Olympic games. Cycling and rowing are pretty big for Britain, but globally, the two big things are athletics and swimming. |

Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory. |

Whether being battered by the surf or swimming through the gentle undulating surface of lakes, I find inspiration in the movement of water. Sometimes I think about the journey the water has traveled, reconnecting me to the larger cycles of nature. |

That women are mysterious and unknowable is something every young man grows up believing. Men, on the other hand, never think of themselves as mysterious or confusing, and we are often at a loss as to why women want to figure us out. |

I think there's a danger of becoming too familiar with things, isn't there? That you kind of, when you're used to seeing the same things every day, you see those things come what may, and you don't see maybe the interesting things just slightly out of view behind them. |

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. |

There are a few 'Raw Shark Texts' tattoos floating around the Internet now, so I'm gathering them up to post on my forum. It's a strange thought, knowing that readers are tattooing themselves with something I've created, but it feels wonderful to have added something that people care about to the world. |

Sharks are beautiful animals, and if you're lucky enough to see lots of them, that means that you're in a healthy ocean. You should be afraid if you are in the ocean and don't see sharks. |

What I've learned in my career is that it takes the same amount of effort to build a $10bn company as it does a $1bn company; you as the entrepreneur are going to put your entire life, your entire effort into it. |

I had a dream that I was on a boat and the boat was attached to a bigger boat and we were headed somewhere. I fell asleep and when I woke up my boat was partially under water and I couldn't see the larger boat so I was pretty sure that I was stranded in the middle of the ocean and pretty sure I was going to drown. I couldn't even get out of my boat without swimming under because the front side was sinking and that's where the door was.

A Chinese-Built Replica of the Titanic Will Set Sail From Dubai in 2022
Great news for Celine Dion fans and James Cameron enthusiasts: The Titanic is set to sail again. From a report:
Titanic II, a replica of the original Titanic, will make its first voyage in 2022. It will have room for 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members and have the same cabin layout and decor as the original legendary ocean liner. The $500 million ship, which will be built in China, is set to make its maiden voyage from Dubai to Southhampton, U.K in 2022. ...

I had a dream my friend and I were walking quickly across the surface of a lake in the dark. There were long skinny strands of leafy plants just barely under the surface of the water and it almost looked like they were providing a path but our feet didn't touch them. Our feet only touched the surface of the water. It seemed like we were trying to carefully escape something but we were afraid we might break the surface of the water.

When I was really little I had a very memorable dream. I was being chased up a cartoon steamboat by a Barney-looking-type. By the way, I was princess peach in my dream. I ended up jumping off the steamboat and swimming to some island, but I think I woke up before getting to the island because I don't remember anything interesting after that.

This is interesting. I would think Google would know better than to give an easy image classification problem. It's not difficult now to grab someone else's code and train pretty accurate models. I'm sure they have models to do the same thing. I wonder if what they're doing is showing us the examples that their models get wrong.
The mouse movement CAPTCHA is interesting too. I could definitely record my mouse movements for a week or so and then build a model to emulate those movements.

Finally some acknowledgment of the data falsification which has helped to hide the true state of the climate. Many have been convinced that data is being cheated to the upside, however, an objective examination of this notion clearly shows the opposite is true.

This study was just released. Even though the light is starting to shine on the total falsification of data/temp reporting to the down side, this study still does not indicate the immense gravity ...
