You hear a lot about God these days: God, the beneficent; God, the all-great; God, the Almighty; God, the most powerful; God, the giver of life; God, the creator of death. I mean, we're hearing about God all the time, so we better learn how to deal with it. But if we know anything about God, God is arbitrary. |

I don't dislike rappers or hip-hop or people who like it. I went to the Def Jam tour in Manchester in the '80s when rap was inspirational. Public Enemy were awesome. But it's all about status and bling now, and it doesn't say anything to me. |

My first church had seven members in it, and I have to remember, the rent was $225 a month and I worked for Union Carbide and took the check I made from work to pay for the rent to keep the church open. |

Passion makes idiots of the cleverest men, and makes the biggest idiots clever. |

Thank you... 'Real Housewives of Atlanta,' for demonstrating a universal truth: Idiots like me will always watch idiots like you fight on TV. You will forever be in my TiVo. |

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair. |

If you're white and you're wrong, then you're wrong; if you're black and you're wrong, you're wrong. People are people. Black, blue, pink, green - God make no rules about color; only society make rules where my people suffer, and that why we must have redemption and redemption now. |

'Free Agents' was an awesome experience. I never play the glam girl in anything, so that was a new experience. I would walk into one of my trailers and it would be like Spanx, a spray-tan gun, and chicken cutlets. I would have hair extensions. It was hilarious. Every day felt like I was turning into an awesome drag queen. |

When I was a child, I thought I was going to be a paleontologist because I loved dinosaurs. I loved monster movies and sci-fi, and then 'Star Wars' came out, and I was completely out of my mind with that, with 'Close Encounters,' and then I thought maybe I was going to go into special effects makeup, which I thought was awesome. |

Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone's face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come. |

Sometimes I'm so busy hating school that I forget about how cool everything I'm learning is. I just had a moment where I thought to myself, "UGH I should start reading this damn paper to prepare for my proposal. DAMNIT." And then I started reading it and I realized, "Oh, man, this is awesome! What a great idea!"

Customer at subway "wants to speak to the manager"
I worked at a subway that didn't have any authority/managers, just a couple minimum wage base level workers. I don't remember what this particular customer was mad about but she was arguing with me and didn't like the answer I gave her. She asked to speak to the manager, and there not being a manager I decided to promote myself on the spot and replied with "manager speaking, how can I help you." This did not make her very happy because she realized she was not going to get a different answer and asked for a phone number to call. The owner has specifically told us never to give his cell number to customers so i gave her the store number. She gives me a shit eating grin thinking about how much trouble she's about to get me in when the phon...

Vice President Mike Pence used a personal AOL email account to conduct sensitive state business -- including issues related to homeland security -- as the governor of Indiana, according to a report from The Indianapolis Star. Not only that, but Pence's email account was also compromised last year, the report reveals. Because personal email accounts are not subject to same types of public transparency laws, it's up to the official and his or her transition staff to hand over any sensitive state-related messages for archiving. Emails from a state account are automatically stored on state servers and subject to public records requests. Pence's office claims the contents of his personal AOL account used for state business are in fact in the process of being archived. A larger concern, however, is security. By using a private AOL account to conduct sensitive state matters, Pence could have exposed sensitive state business. In the hacking incident last year, Pence's email account was compro...

I had a dream that I went back to high school to take some easy credits that would apply to grad school. Some of my friends I went to high school with also decided to go back for the same reasons, but they weren't in any of my classes. One of the three classes I was taking was Calc 3, but I wasn't doing very well after the first exam (which did happen in real life). Going about the school day did not feel right. Something about the way the building was constructed was wrong.. but I could not figure out why I felt that way. My favorite part of each school day was during lunch in the cafeteria because there was a DJ and great food (also similar to real life). One day around 10AM I was wandering around my parent's backyard when I panicked. I realized that I had not been to school in a while... like in two months and I couldn't remember why I stopped going. I sprinted up to the house and i...

Last night I had a dream that I was taking an exam and Tina Fey was my teacher. It was one of those easy exams where you're supposed to know every answer but I didn't know any of them and was really stressed out about it. Good thing I'm not in school anymore!

America has a higher rate of incarcerated inmates per capita than any other country on the planet. We put more people in cages than even the countries where they can arrest you for speaking wrong, or praying wrong, or for no reason at all. Land of the free?

I've thought about this question outside of the context of a specific person who requires interaction. I think if you can acknowledge that someone is wrong and really know that they are wrong you can not let them bother you. If you think their actions are the product of some degree of misunderstanding you can try to talk to them and figure out why they're acting the way they are.

There is no teaching of mine, and never shall be one. 'Teaching' is not the word for it. 'Teaching' implies a method or a system, a technique or a new way of thinking to be applied in order to bring about a transformation in your way of life. What I am saying is outside the field of teachability; it is simply a description of the way I am functioning. It is just a description of the natural state of man -- that is the way you, stripped of the machinations of thought, are ...
