If it were a choice between putting ads on Wikipedia or shutting down Wikipedia, we would then very reluctantly consider putting ads on Wikipedia. |
Queen Elizabeth II |
What were once only hopes for the future have now come to pass; it is almost exactly 13 years since the overwhelming majority of people in Ireland and Northern Ireland voted in favour of the agreement signed on Good Friday 1998, paving the way for Northern Ireland to become the exciting and inspirational place that it is today. |

I'm quite good at taking in information so I voraciously inhale Wikipedia - which may have some things wrong in it, but I think is generally more information than we had before. Last tour we didn't have Wikipedia. And then Discovery Channel and History Channel. I can take it in and retain what I think are the most important facts. |

I came to America at the age of 17 as an exchange student, and a year later, I was a student at Dartmouth. I would say that the rather weak foundation of my Christianity was effectively battered at Dartmouth. I've had mostly a secular career. But I became intellectually interested in Christianity again in my mid-30s. |

Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue with that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first - rock and roll or Christianity. |

All religions worthy of the name are now making great efforts to purify their doctrines and return to their original standpoint, all except Christianity! You surely know that the nineteenth century Christianity is not the religion taught by Christ. Christ's religion has been changed and corrupted. |

The easiest thing in the world is to succeed. You can't help it if you follow the rules and play the game the best way you know how according to yourself, instead of according to the one next to you, or above you, or somewhere away from you. |
Immanuel Kant |
The only objects of practical reason are therefore those of good and evil. For by the former is meant an object necessarily desired according to a principle of reason; by the latter one necessarily shunned, also according to a principle of reason. |

From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs. |
Samuel Butler |
People are lucky and unlucky not according to what they get absolutely, but according to the ratio between what they get and what they have been led to expect. |

Wikipedia says he was a unitarian universalist, atheist, humanist, and it says Slaughterhouse Five had existential themes. That's pretty much the kind of stuff I look for in a book.

The North Face Used Wikipedia To Climb To the Top of Google Search Results
When you first start planning a big trip, step one will likely happen at the Google search bar. Step two might be clicking onto the images of your target destination. The North Face, in a campaign with agency Leo Burnett Tailor Made, took advantage of this consumer behavior to keep its name top of mind with travelers considering an adventure sports excursion.
The brand and agency took pictures of athletes wearing the brand while trekking to famous locations around the world, including Brazil's Guarita State Park and...

I wrote a program that will text me random sentences from Wikipedia while I'm sleeping but for some reason it doesn't work with my phone number. I don't know if it is a problem with the carrier or what. It works with other people's phones.

I had a dream that I was walking around outside and my cat was leading me somewhere. Then she dug up a passion fruit and brought it to me. Much better than bringing me mice imo.

"The visitor from outer space made a serious study of Christianity, to learn, if he could, why Christians found it so easy to be cruel. He concluded that at least part of the trouble was slipshod storytelling in the New Testament. He supposed that the intent of the Gospels was to teach people, among other things, to be merciful, even to the lowest of the low.
But the Gospels actually taught this: Before you kill somebody, make absolutely sure he isn't well connected"

I've also heard that everyone in your dreams is yourself. Maybe I've stopped thinking creatively/out-of-the-box in grad school in the interest of safe career advancement. Recently I seem to be breaking out of that, even though Prabal doesn't seem 100% on-board at the moment - maybe that brought it up.

Summum bonum is a Latin expression meaning "the highest good", which was introduced by the Roman philosopher Cicero,[1] to correspond to the Idea of the Good in ancient Greek philosophy. The summum bonum is generally thought of as being an end in itself, and at the same time containing all other goods.
The term was used in medieval philosophy. In the Thomist synthesis of Aristotelianism and Christianity, the highest good is usually defined as the life of the righteous and/or the life led in communion with God and according to God's precepts.[1] In Kantianism, it was used to describe the ultimate importance, the singular and overriding end which human beings ought to pursue.

Believe it or not, I was raised by a herd of zombies. I was born on the Tahitian island of Pangoro where the zombie virus still runs rampant. One day, tot long after I learned to crawl, my parents became infected and they immediately exhibited the telltale signs of zombification. I was spared from their ravenous advances only because I was already covered in the blood of my devoured sister. A zombie won't eat someone that smells dead like them. I crawled away from my home and survived in the zombie infested wilderness by learning from and acting like the zombies around me. I grew up there as the only living member of the tribe of the dead. When I was 17 I was rescued by a Catholic missionary from Ireland. I still couldn't read or talk but I knew that I was finally with my own kind. I'm glad to finally share my story with you all on this wonderful social network and I'd be glad to answer any questions that you may have. The hardest part of adjusting to life away from the zomb...
