I've also heard that everyone in your dreams is yourself. Maybe I've stopped thinking creatively/out-of-the-box in grad school in the interest of safe career advancement. Recently I seem to be breaking out of that, even though Prabal doesn't seem 100% on-board at the moment - maybe that brought it up. |

I dreamed that I was watching Nancy Reagan give her candidacy speech at the Democratic National Convention in what looked like an old timey courthouse, very somber place, lots of big windows. Near the end she said, "The next president will be crazy!" and everyone burst into applause, because apparently crazy was a good thing and associated with her. Then some old-ass dude representing the party higher-ups said a bunch of stuff in an irritated tone that completely negated everything she said about the party's positions in her speech, like "Well, actually..." Everyone was silent after his short follow-up, then an old British dude who was the richest person in the world named The Donor walked up and in an irritated yet patronizingly kind voice offered his arm to Nancy an said, "Can I talk to you for a minute," as part of an attempt to placate her. As they walked off, I went up behind the big wooden judges booths, where there was a chair you could sit in and ask questions of some of the ...

No one should negotiate their dreams. Dreams must be free to fly high. No government, no legislature, has a right to limit your dreams. You should never agree to surrender your dreams. |

I think being nice and being safe is unfair to yourself when you have big dreams as a woman. I think you have to prepare yourself that not everyone in this world has the same personality... The one thing I've chosen to be great at in my life is singing - so why not be proud that I'm great at it? |

Work on your craft, and your career will come. Work on your community, and your career will come. But just work on your career, and you'll have neither a craft nor a community. |

Imagine choosing a job not on money or even on career advancement, but as part of a life worth living. |

Navigation in space is hard. On Earth there are references to go by, things to look at, roads to follow. The problem is worse in orbit since we're going so fast - a small error gets worse quickly at 8 km/sec. We navigate using reference to the Earth and the stars, have a computer onboard that tracks our speed and direction, and constantly updates. |

But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. |

Your outlook upon life, your estimate of yourself, your estimate of your value are largely colored by your environment. Your whole career will be modified, shaped, molded by your surroundings, by the character of the people with whom you come in contact every day. |

When I was driving home after registration, I heard this song on the radio, a guy singing about not ever going to class in college and always hanging out and singing for his friends. I laughed and said, I can relate, because it was so much like me. I realized right then I would pull out of school and pursue a music career. |

It is a remarkable honor to receive a Nobel Prize, because it not only recognizes discoveries, but also their usefulness to the advancement of fundamental science. |

I had a dream that I went back to high school to take some easy credits that would apply to grad school. Some of my friends I went to high school with also decided to go back for the same reasons, but they weren't in any of my classes. One of the three classes I was taking was Calc 3, but I wasn't doing very well after the first exam (which did happen in real life). Going about the school day did not feel right. Something about the way the building was constructed was wrong.. but I could not figure out why I felt that way. My favorite part of each school day was during lunch in the cafeteria because there was a DJ and great food (also similar to real life). One day around 10AM I was wandering around my parent's backyard when I panicked. I realized that I had not been to school in a while... like in two months and I couldn't remember why I stopped going. I sprinted up to the house and i...

My life led up to that moment for sure, a lot of the things I thought and found through contemplation and studying. Basically we needed top get rid of a waterbed so this guy called us from craigslist and i helped him take it apart and load it and he kinda felt prompted to ask me my thoughts on the subject which is obviously a loaded topic for a stranger but he was chill and it wasnt like those aggressive people who tell everybody this shit but anyway just through our conversation he was talking about having been in prison and got saved and healed someone who was dying and that god speaks through him. my neighbor always tried to talk to me about this shit my whole life and i pretty much tuned him out and thought my idea was more correct but this other guy was a bit differnt. but it really has nothing to do with this guy. one of things that happened is i couldnt think of a certain word and once i got in my car and thought about the conversation and asking the world, god, what is the nam...

I was recently thinking about aging. It's been my opinion for a while that we should just accept that we are going to grow old and die and that we have to get over it. I have now heard the argument, however, that the things that happen to us while we age are not unlike the things that happen to us when we get diseases and die. They went on to say that we should treat them the same and we should work on curing aging. This isn't to say that we should live forever, but that the flaws in the mechanisms that replicate our cells could be fixed or assisted and that we could live for a much longer time. I think it's interesting to think about and I agree that it is worth pursuing. Imagine if the life expectancy doubled. What great things could people accomplish if they had more time?

its really random and i didnt realize the frequency at which it was happening. just had a flash back to this marshy path by a river and a field that i remember in my dreams as a kid. it is very similar to an area near where my mom lived altho it wasnt it exactly. i remember several pretty much pointless dreams that took place in my elementary school at the other end of this path, both in the physical and dream world.

I had a dream that I was in a classroom and there was a school shooting. I think the classroom kind of turned into a hotel room because dreams are like that. Then this one kid was really scared and the shooter came in and was like "hey it'll be okay, lets play patty cake" and he started doing the patty cake thing and someone tackled him and took the gun away. Super weird. I guess I'm never going to stop dreaming about school shootings. #USA

I had a dream that I was at a school and there was a kid who I think was a criminal of some sort. He was trying to get the principal of the school to do something for him and the principal refused. This kid then went nuts and started throwing desks and stuff everywhere. For some reason, there was a jail attached to the school. The kid had done something wrong to a bunch of people in jail and the warden decided they could temporarily let them out to get their revenge. Then this kid was running around and hiding in the school and these criminals were trying to hunt him down. He got cornered at some point and got shanked. He died. Then the criminals started just murdering each other and other kids at the school.
