Somewhere in my vicinity, a fire alarm has been going off periodically for three hours. I want to find this alarm, and the person who sets it off, and give them a stern talking-to about burning points.
Olive oil is not always the answer. And it's 1AM. Come on now. |

I don't give a darn about coal or about oil. I do give a darn about oil jobs. I do give a darn about the jobs that coal can bring... I am against the Obama administration demonizing certain forms of energy and glorying others. I say, bring it all in. |

Every person I talk to has a story about how their smoke alarm went off or woke them up with a battery beeping. So you take it off the wall and you take the battery out and say 'screw this.' They hate the products. |

I moved to Hollywood when I was 22. I was married. I had a kid right away. And I had worked as a furniture mover amongst various other jobs, and I'd work eight, ten hours a day to support my family - and I'd come home and write for two hours a night or two and a half, or three hours a night. |

You know, if we're going to bring down the price of gas, you have to have three things. You have to have a big reserve, you have to have the ability to develop oil out of that reserve quickly, and you have to be able to produce oil at a relatively low cost. |

Where did the world come from? The question has an answer, even though I cannot get to it. It is a good question. It is like a crime that has not been solved. There is an answer, even if police do not know it. |

I'd really like to play bad guys or guys that have something a little bit off about them. And I get to do that periodically. |

When truth has no burning, then it is philosophy, when it gets burning from the heart, it becomes poetry. |

If you want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it. |

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. |

A kind heart is a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles. |

I had a dream that my mom loved my sister more than me and was not at all trying to hide it. When I confronted her about it, she agreed but made excuses for it. Francis bought her a present and she was rude and rejecting of it.
Also in my dream, the smoke alarm in my house went off, and we went outside and saw that our next-door neighbors' house was burning down. I tried to call the police, but they were being really unhelpful. In the end, I'm pretty sure the wife/mother in the house died, and maybe one or two of the kids, too. I felt partially responsible, but maybe just in a survivors'-guilt way.

I keep waking up at exactly 8am with no alarm... which is kind of cool because then I sort of have a schedule but is kind of lame because I don't always go to bed at the same time...

Once inner silence is attained, everything is possible. The way to stop talking to ourselves is to use exactly the same method used to teach us to talk to ourselves; we were taught compulsively and unwaveringly, and this is the way we must stop it: compulsively and unwaveringly. ...

A Dutch first: Ingenious BMW theft attempt
It was Sunday afternoon when I installed the roof rack on my new BMW F30 320i. We were about to go on a 2 week trip to France and were intending to leave next Friday.
During that night, my girlfriend and I were fast asleep, when at 03:45 the doorbell rang. We looked at each other dazed. I got out of bed and attempted to journey downstairs in my boxers when the doorbell rang again. Before opening the door I went into the living room to gaze out of the window. A police car with 2 policemen was standing in front of our house. I opened the door and was...

That is so cool. I don't know the answer to your question. If it exists independently of the person wouldn't it just be like a hologram or something? And if it exists relative to the person then everyone just has to have a device that messes with their perception.

Hey everyone! I'm Charlie's buddy MiiIIiIIIiiRRiiAAmmmMMmm for those of you who don't know me (and Reed's roommate if any of you know him). I was hoping maybe one or two or three of you could help me out with something. I AM IN NEED OF KIDS.
Explanation: I'm learning how to administer cognitive tests to kids as part of my training in clinical psychology. I need to find children ages 6 to 16 that would be willing to take practice cognitive tests with me this summer (and parents that are willing), but I don't know any in kids in Michigan. Do any of you have siblings/cousins that are kids or know people who have kids that might be interested? A lot of kids actually find it fun, and I would give them a small prize/thank-you gift. I'm also really, really desperate. ...

Chinese Schools Are Using 'Smart Uniforms' To Track Their Students' Locations
"It's as dystopian as it sounds," opines The Verge:
Chinese schools are now tracking the exact location of their students using chip-equipped "smart uniforms" in order to encourage better attendance rates, according to a report from state-run newspaper The Global Times. Each uniform has two chips in the shoulders which are used to track when and where the students enter or exit the school, with an added dose of facial recognition software at the entrances to make sure that the right student is wearing the right o...

I had a dream last night where I spent innumerable dream hours frantically searching high and low for the keys to unlock the Saw-like bomb contraptions from the bodies of several frightened friends. For whatever reason I was not strapped with one, but I was locked in the same labyrinth and oppressed by the anxiety and guilt of being the one who was free to save them but probably couldn't on time. When I stopped running and was about to give in to the guilt, I noticed that each person had their own key hooked to the back of their own devices. I was so busy and worried about leading each to their separate deliverance that I never thought to stand back and follow them.

The weirdest thing about this whole scenario is that you have to go to the internet to find an answer to this question
