That's interesting. In certain environments I find it very easy to adapt my personality accordingly. The arrogant will inherit the meek. Although, in seriousness, arrogance begets results, and I don't like to be sincerely mean, but I find it to be highly effective in quickly solving some interpersonal problems in certain arenas. |

The French have the reputation of being arrogant. I don't think it's arrogance but a certain authenticity. |
Homaro Cantu |
I was just taught very early that if I didn't solve problems, I was headed for a very dark path. Problems were everywhere. Now, even if there are no problems, I look for problems. I'm like, 'You know what? I don't like the way this spoon works. I want to design a new spoon.' |

We are raising today's children in sterile, risk-averse and highly structured environments. In so doing, we are failing to cultivate artists, pioneers and entrepreneurs, and instead cultivating a generation of children who can follow the rules in organized sports games, sit for hours in front of screens and mark bubbles on standardized tests. |
Julianne Moore |
Every different social group that I encountered had its different set of rules, so you learn very quickly how to pick up the nuances and change yourself accordingly. When you are not from anywhere, you have to try to find what's universal. You are always trying to fit in. |
T. S. Eliot |
Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things. |
Marcus Aurelius |
Adapt yourself to the things among which your lot has been cast and love sincerely the fellow creatures with whom destiny has ordained that you shall live. |
Colin Powell |
Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership. |
Jonathan Ive |
When you're trying to solve a problem on a new product type, you become completely focused on problems that seem a number of steps removed from the main product. That problem solving can appear a little abstract, and it is easy to lose sight of the product. |
William James |
Success or failure depends more upon attitude than upon capacity successful men act as though they have accomplished or are enjoying something. Soon it becomes a reality. Act, look, feel successful, conduct yourself accordingly, and you will be amazed at the positive results. |
Angelina Jolie |
I've realized that being happy is a choice. You never want to rub anybody the wrong way or not be fun to be around, but you have to be happy. When I get logical and I don't trust my instincts - Thats when I get in trouble. |

'In the Knowledge Economy, We Need a Netflix of Education'
When we want to acquire useful knowledge, we have to search the web broadly, find experts by word-of-mouth and troll through various poorly designed internal document sharing systems. This method is inefficient. There should be a better solution that helps users find what they need. Such a solution would adapt to the user's needs and learn how to make ongoing customized recommendations and suggestions through a truly interactive and impactful learning experience. Before Netflix, Spotify, Reddit and similar curated content apps, you had to go to numerous sources to find the shows, music, news and other media you wished to view. Now, the entertainment and media you actually want to consume is easily discoverable and personalized t...

the world is spiraling quickly to an even wider and more apparent gap in wealth .those who get the money now are going to set themselves and their families up for a better life in the next 100 years. those who stay poor, like me and almost everyone i know, will find it difficult to switch classes in the future. pick your side.

Everything seems to be an addiction in that we need to always be channeling our energy in life. I think we use only one stimulus sometimes bc we think it will provide permanence and it's so easy to find a flow with something you consume as opposed to generating substance yourself. But idk I'm addicted to explaining reality

Hey everyone! I'm Charlie's buddy MiiIIiIIIiiRRiiAAmmmMMmm for those of you who don't know me (and Reed's roommate if any of you know him). I was hoping maybe one or two or three of you could help me out with something. I AM IN NEED OF KIDS.
Explanation: I'm learning how to administer cognitive tests to kids as part of my training in clinical psychology. I need to find children ages 6 to 16 that would be willing to take practice cognitive tests with me this summer (and parents that are willing), but I don't know any in kids in Michigan. Do any of you have siblings/cousins that are kids or know people who have kids that might be interested? A lot of kids actually find it fun, and I would give them a small prize/thank-you gift. I'm also really, really desperate. ...

Never ever say "I don't know". Either you do know and you're just being shy, or you say "I'm going to find out".

Lately I've been thinking a lot about the mind-body connection. For two weeks I've been suffering from severe nausea to the point where I find it difficult to eat. I have always had problems with motion sickness. Perhaps the nausea is related to all of the waves and uncertainty going on in my life right now. Maybe if I learned to fly above the waves rather than letting them toss me around, my nausea would subside. I just wish I knew how to accomplish that.

Qualtrics doesn't let you force a response on all questions. Pretty lame, right? What am I supposed to do when I generate a survey for crowd-sourcing but I don't want to manually go through hundreds of questions to add validation?
Well, here is the hacky solution. 1. Set validation on one question. 2. Export the survey. This downloads the survey as a QSF file. 3. Open QSF file in a text editor and find the validation you set for that one question. ...

This is interesting. I would think Google would know better than to give an easy image classification problem. It's not difficult now to grab someone else's code and train pretty accurate models. I'm sure they have models to do the same thing. I wonder if what they're doing is showing us the examples that their models get wrong.
The mouse movement CAPTCHA is interesting too. I could definitely record my mouse movements for a week or so and then build a model to emulate those movements.
