Last night I had a dream: I had made a whole podcast that I forgot about and then a bunch of people I kind of know were one day like "wow i loved listening to your podcast this summer, i got my parents and friends into it" and i was like wtf what podcast? and according to them it was some kinda mystery about something that sounded super mundane to me but apparently was a huge hit. I never regained my memory of making the podcast but I enjoyed the clout. |

I thought I'd be edgy and dye my hair red. And I dyed my hair, like, Jessica Rabbit red. It kind of allowed me to have this whole new confidence and this whole new swagger and this whole new sense of self. It kind of brought out the inner rock star in me. I had never dyed my hair like that, and no one forgot me after that. |

Actually I think Art lies in both directions - the broad strokes, big picture but on the other hand the minute examination of the apparently mundane. Seeing the whole world in a grain of sand, that kind of thing. |

When I was 13, listening to Choice FM, I would listen to a lot of R&B from America, and whenever a British person tried to do it, it didn't really work, they just sounded like they were trying to copy that whole style. Now the music sounds British, something real rather than an imitation. |

Whether it's golf or writing, you have friends, and then you have 'friends' friends. Friends who are like family. I can count my close friends on two hands, which is good, I think. That's a lot. Some are at home in Spain, others are elsewhere, and some are in golf. |

Her death has had a huge effect on me. It felt like a big hole appeared on my left side - apparently your left side is your mother - which I thought could never be filled. Now I think what you have to do is fill it with yourself because your mother is part of you. I'm easing into that space, using it and being comforted by it. |

From 1958 to 1964, that's real rock n' roll. Then the Beatles hit and everyone sounded like them. |

In fact, some reviewers have said that as they got into the story they forgot that the protagonist is a black woman. They were moved by the story - by the people as a whole - and not by the little things. |

I used to write my books at night when I was a freelancer with no children. I used to really work in huge spurts - I could turn around a revision in two weeks, I used to be able to write 10,000 words a day. It's like, 'Wow, what happened to that?' That's just gone. |
Vivian Campbell |
These are very difficult times for new artists. Back in the day, a hit song could really seep into a person's DNA with radio and MTV. A hit today is not the same as a hit twenty years ago. Now there is so much competition, it is very hard to reach the people. The music scene is so overly saturated. There are no gatekeepers like there used to be. |

People with film careers get a whole onslaught of people they spend 12 hours a day with every three months. It's like speed dating. You've got a fast-track to social intimacy with a whole bunch of people. |

I had some kinda dream that was a mix of this cooking guy youtube guy, these podcast science guys, and prozd. I wanted to ask them to do some experiments on what the best mac n cheese noodle shape is. Like what is the best shape to carry all the cheese sauce? Does it need to have some structure so you can get a good bite? What are all the relevant factors?

I had a dream I was at my parents house and it was summer. There were a lot of people I knew hanging out in the backyard. Some were my friends and some were my parents friends. I don't know why I was in the house. I found out we had these blue popsicles and I think I ate a few of them and I took one outside. People were barbecuing. I asked where my friends were and my parents said they were next door. I headed that way and my mom looked up and saw the sun and said "why is the sun on fire? it doesn't look normal". I looked up and I didn't see the sun but I saw what looked like the earth. It looked about 5 times bigger than the sun normally does in the sky and there was fire. I couldn't tell where between myself and what I saw the fire was. My vision was better when I looked at it though. I could see the earth in the sky 1000+ times better than my normal eyesight. I could see the mountains and the clouds and the trees and all of it was on fire.

I had a dream last night about grocery shopping. I bought at least 3 different types of apples. I almost forgot to get potatoes, and I only realized it when I got to the checkout line with my class project partner (we were shopping together, apparently), so I panicked and ran off to find them.

I had a dream where I biked to a party with a couple friends, but I forgot cash and couldn't get in. The friends couldn't get in, either, because the people hosting the party were racist and they were black. We started to bike home all the way from Detroit (I have no idea where home was, but it was far from Detroit), and I almost ended up in a ditch. While trying not to fall into the ditch, I saw a baby rattlesnake there, which made me panic and nearly knock myself over. (I found out that there are rattlesnakes in California when I biked past two of them over the weekend, which is probably why this dream was rattlesnake themed).

In 11 studies, we found that participants typically did not enjoy spending 6 to 15 minutes in a room by themselves with nothing to do but think, that they enjoyed doing mundane external activities much more, and that many preferred to administer electric shocks to themselves instead of being left alone with their thoughts. Most people seem to prefer to be doing something rather than nothing, even if that something is negative.

People write here about microplastics in the sea. I'll write about how I forgot my phone in the lost and found room. It all started a night before when I forgot my laptop charger in the law library. I was working with other students for Complexity homework. I was also stressed because of the AIDA project and this made me forget things and be very tired. I didn't even realize I forgot my charger until the end of the next day when my battery was low. The deadline for AIDA had just been pushed back again so I didn't need my laptop that night. Next morning I went to the law library, at the lost and found room to search for my charger. My excitement when I found it was so great that I didn't realize I left my phone on the desk there. Luckily, immediately after leaving the room I could sense that something was wrong. I felt incomplete without my phone. So, very embarrassed I turned back and faced the person in the room. She was amazed at how I left my phone in there after just recovering an...

I had a dream that I was looking out over my parents backyard and it was flooded. I could see them down by the river on a patch of grass that wasn't covered with water. The neighbor's yard was mostly above water, but a large portion of my parent's yard was underwater. Then I saw what looked like a huge fish near the edge of their property. It was the size of a large dog and it had eyes probably as big as my head. It looked like 2 or 3 eyes and it looked like it was mostly above water, but when it got to the land it crawled out and I could see a huge crablike body underneath. It was approaching my parents and I yelled out to them and they turned around. It froze, so I thought it was afraid of them and that they were safe. I put my coat on and went outside. I was standing far away from the water but I felt something on my back. I reached back and pulled something off of it. It was a big crab leg. Then I still felt something and I did it again. Another leg. Then I felt something biting m...

I had a dream that my friends were at my parent's house for a party I was throwing. I was really busy so I was downstairs working on something on my computer but they were all upstairs in this tiny room that had three beds in it. They were laying there talking. I came up once to see how they were doing and they tried to make me play heads-up-7up, but I told them I didn't like that game and I didn't know how to play and I left. They thought my reaction was funny and went back to what they were doing. Downstairs I was working and drinking a huge strawberry milkshake.
One of my friends was leaving and I heard her go out the front door so I went to follow her to say bye. She went out and I couldn't find shoes so I went out barefoot. She didn't see me at all and got in her car. I was going af...

I had a dream that Sherman hacked this site and tried to integrate it with his game. I also dreamt that I was on vacation and a bunch of people I knew were in nearby hotels. My parents were in one and they found out they were broke and I paid for the rest of their vacation.
