Researchers at Cambridge University have discovered that the larvae of the moth, which eats wax in bee hives, can also degrade plastic.
Experiments show the insect can break down the chemical bonds of plastic in a similar way to digesting beeswax.
Each year, about 80 million tonnes of the plastic polyethylene are produced around the world.
The plastic is used to make shopping bags and food packaging, among other things, but it can take hundreds of years to decompose completely.

Microplastics Found In 90 Percent of Table Salt (nationalgeographic.com)
New research shows microplastics in 90 percent of the table salt brands sampled worldwide. Of 39 salt brands tested, 36 had microplastics in them, according to a new analysis by researchers in South Korea and Greenpeace East Asia. Salt samples from 21 countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, and Asia were analyzed. The three brands that did not contain microplastics are from Taiwan (refined sea salt), China (refined rock salt), and France (unrefined sea salt produced by solar evaporation). I don't know if I want to teach next semester. I have to decide soon and I don't know if I'll get another chance before I graduate. I think it could be a good experience and I kind of think teaching is one of the most meaningful things you can do but it is very time consuming and might even slow down my graduation a little bit.

Last Sunday I drank a coffee at 9pm, and then took a Sudafed at 11. I tried to go to bed around 2-3 after watching boardwalk empire, and obviously could not (Sudafed + coffee = kind of speedy). I should mention for a half hour before I went to sleep, I read all about the real life mobsters form that era, murder inc, etc. (what am I going to find out that I didn't last week from wikipedia?).
Anyway, I finally fell asleep around 5, and had a wonderful stress dream (nightmare some might call it, but I don't frighten easily) where I was shot in the neck, but in order to make sense of it and the angles of blood spurt or something, I had to realize a linear basis for the entire system of 1920s mobsters.
