Dream Journal Entry 2: I worked for a Software/Scotch Making company. I began as Cho from the Mentalist and there was an attack on our software due to an oscillating signal between 1024Hz and 4096Hz. I was able to use my telescoping stick to locate the source of the signal, a cold war era radio with a swirling red swirl located directly behind my overweight partner (who wore a necklace made of a 50's era television). We stopped the signal (which was actually my alarm to wake up) but it began again (cause I clearly hadn't woken up yet). However, this test of my skills under pressure proved to be enough to show my dedication to this company and allow me, now a little girl of age 9 or 10, to become the CEO. I was ushered into an office with photos of our previous CEOs (all Russian and British royalty along with Anna Karenina). To initiate me into the company, I had to drink a random assortment of the different Scotch's distilled by families who worked for our company. In the end I had to do 5 shots of one, 4 shots of another, a couple 2 shoters etc. (remember I am a small child at this point). The End.

Using Wi-Fi To Count People Through Walls
Whether you're trying to figure out how many students are attending your lectures or how many evil aliens have taken your Space Force brethren hostage, Wi-Fi can now be used to count them all. The system, created by researchers at UC Santa Barbara, uses a single Wi-Fi router outside of the room to measure attenuation and signal drops. From the release: "The transmitter sends a wireless signal whose received signal strength (RSSI) is measured by the receiver. Thieves steal a Tesla Model S by hacking the entry fob
Breaking in to the EV was easier than unplugging it.
A Tesla owner who recorded thieves stealing his Model S by hacking the passive entry system has published the video on YouTube so we can all watch (and learn). It shows the crooks using a tablet to apparently capture the passive signal from his keyfob, then using the data to open the vehicle. Amusingly, the pair didn't drive off as quickly as they could have simply because they couldn't figure out how to detach the charging cable (hint: there's a button).

US Says North Korea 'Directly Responsible' For WannaCry Ransomware Attack
The White House has publicly blamed North Korea for a ransomware attack in May that locked more than 300,000 computers in 150 countries. From a report:

A Fourth Gravitational Wave Has Been Detected
Astronomers have made a new detection of gravitational waves and for the first time have been able to trace the shape of ripples sent through spacetime when black holes collide. The announcement, made at a meeting of the G7 science ministers in Turin, marks the fourth cataclysmic black-hole merger that astronomers have spotted using Ligo, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory. The latest detection is the first to have also been picked up by the Virgo detector, located near Pisa, Italy, providing a new layer of detail on the three dimensional pattern of warping that occurs during some of the most violent and energetic events in the universe.

I had some other dream where my ex-girlfriend was hiding in a tree somewhere near where I worked and she worked at the same company but it was a secret. Then there was some other person that I was friends with that did not resemble anyone I had ever met. I think my brain was trying to tell me that it is surprising sometimes how things change and how what you think you know doesn't always matter later on.

What is the level of consciousness of the psychedelic state? Empirically, measures of neural signal diversity such as entropy and Lempel-Ziv (LZ) complexity score higher for wakeful rest than for states with lower conscious level like propofol-induced anesthesia. Here we compute these measures for spontaneous magnetoencephalographic (MEG) signals from humans during altered states of consciousness induced by three psychedelic substances: psilocybin, ketamine and LSD. For all three, we find reliably higher spontaneous signal diversity, even when controlling for spectral changes. This increase is most pronounced for the single-channel LZ complexity measure, and hence for temporal, as opposed to spatial, signal diversity. We also uncover selective correlations between changes in signal diversity and phenomenological reports of the intensity of psychedelic experience.
