I'm so distracted. I can't focus on anything and the things that distract me aren't even important. |

Please, all you MCs out there, all you fans out there, don't think Big gonna make a record dissing 2Pac or the West Coast because it's not going down like that. I cant even see me wasting my time or my talent to disrespect another black man. |

You've just got to focus on excellence and try not to be distracted by the news and the rumors and the absurdities of the stories that were coming out. |

We continue to focus on actually solving problems that real people have and not being distracted by what power users want. |

My dear friend, clear your mind of cant. |

I've been online doing all kinds of research and that seems to be the constant criticism, that Aibileen's accent was just too thick. And for me, I don't want anything to distract from the character. |
Michelle Obama |
And I love that even in the toughest moments, when we're all sweating it - when we're worried that the bill won't pass, and it seems like all is lost - Barack never lets himself get distracted by the chatter and the noise. Just like his grandmother, he just keeps getting up and moving forward... with patience and wisdom, and courage and grace. |

Great entrepreneurs focus intensely on an opportunity where others see nothing. This focus and intensity helps to eliminate wasted effort and distractions. Most companies die from indigestion rather than starvation, i.e., companies suffer from doing too many things at the same time rather than doing too few things very well. |
Ron Paul |
Cliches about supporting the troops are designed to distract from failed policies, policies promoted by powerful special interests that benefit from war, anything to steer the discussion away from the real reasons the war in Iraq will not end anytime soon. |

Before a race, I block out what's going on in the stadium. It's different for everyone. But for me, I've always been able to block it out. For a sprint race, it's important not to get distracted. |

The pictures are created by the listener, with a little help from the broadcaster. The pictures are perfect. If you're showing pictures, different things in that picture can distract from the spoken word. |

The violin symbolizes harmony and peace. Despite all these other things going on around you, you have a zen like state where these awful things aren't a matter to you. People stealing stuff from you symbolizes how you have lost something or are in fear of losing it. However of course the violin shows that this doesn't really matter to you.

I feel like the act of trying to understand someone else or something they've done is like dimensionality reduction. Each person has a different transform for the same space of experiences. Basically, people can't go through exactly what you went through, so to understand you they have to imagine and assess what they think are the important parts of what happened. Then if they suck at the reduction or process your experience in a space where high variance explaining components are different than yours (different things are important to them) then they will not understand or appreciate what you do.

And because working in an office every day is the biggest waste of breath, at least for me. Driving here, sitting in a tiny room all day, doing work for clients. I hate every part of it. I need to start working out and not drive anymore. Let me tell you about some conclusions I've came to in the past month. [1] We're ALL being lied to, constantly by the US government. (NSA spying is the biggest example of an incredibly illegal, GIGANTIC problem that was and is still lied about or misinformed. If they did that and lied about it, what else could these bureaucracys of our government be doing that is equally or substantially more unethical. There are more examples, the CIA participating in the Cocaine trade. Thats not a theory, it's proven on paper. In memphis where MLK was shot, it was legally found in the court of law that his death was the result of a conspiracy between the Mob and at least one member of the police. HMMMM). [2] Everyone around you is distracted 24/7. Distracted with, w...

I like it when people say "I don't need drugs to feel good" or whatever, it's funny to me because your mind is still creating a barrier protecting yourself from the bad things. So even if you aren't using drugs your brain is working as a coping mechanism to block certain thoughts and events from your conscious.

An idea that came from lots of caffeine and appeared to sort of work when I tried it. When alone, with no distractions, try to think of random and creative things. You will soon notice a sort of limitation to the form and rapidity that these things have and come into your mind. At that point, consciously choose to stop and think more outside of the box, with broader shapes and ideas. Feel out the edges of where this new approach can take you and you will soon encounter another wall of sorts past which your mind isn't really creative enough to go. At this point, again consciously stop imagining strange things and focus entirely on your senses and spatial awareness. For me I noticed that by trying to push the limits of the inside of my head I felt a noticeable difference in the way I percieved the "real" world. I felt as though the space my body and mind occupy have been given more room, more fresh air, more fluidity. This was especially noticeable with my hearing, which seemed much sha...

“There are only three requirements for success. First, decide exactly what it is you want in life. Second, determine the price that you are going to have to pay to get the things you want. And third, and this is most important, resolve to pay that price.”

Jackson Benson believes Hemingway used autobiographical details as framing devices about life in general—not only about his life. For example, Benson postulates that Hemingway used his experiences and drew them out with "what if" scenarios: "what if I were wounded in such a way that I could not sleep at night? What if I were wounded and made crazy, what would happen if I were sent back to the front?"[171] Writing in "The Art of the Short Story", Hemingway explains: "A few things I have found to be true. If you leave out important things or events that you know about, the story is strengthened. If you leave or skip something because you do not know it, the story will be worthless. The test of any story is how very good the stuff that you, not your editors, omit."

Trying to remember your dreams, in my experience, is doing these small things like telling yourself to write things down when you wake up or to think about what is possible/not possible while falling asleep. Or to say things out loud when you wake up. I don't remember to do these things until one day I say "if you do this thing it will help you remember." And then I find myself doing it. I think because you're not conscious the only way to influence these things is by priming your brain to do them. It just makes me think about how I could probably improve other areas of my life by just telling myself that if I do X, then Y will change or improve; by priming myself for better habits.
