Are grown ups who act like kids eligible for the small prize/thank-you gift?
You should try to email the open SI mailing list. Those people like this kind of thing. |

When I was on the bestseller list with the first book, everyone who knows me knows that every week it continued to be on the list was a very dark week for me. Everyone knows that all I wanted was to be off that list. |

With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, more people will have insurance coverage and, in principle, be eligible for more care. |

The funniest thing is that now I know what reverse spam is. You know you get spam from people saying, 'Can you invest in this or that?' People are now e-mailing me saying, 'Oh my God, can I invest in your company?' It's a reverse solicitation of money. |

When I sing for myself, I probably sing for anyone who has any kind of hurt, any kind of bad feelings, good feelings, ups and downs, highs and lows, that kind of thing. |
Susan Cain |
I think the shyness one feels in childhood is often overcome with time. There are children who hide behind their parents' legs, but you don't see grown-ups hiding behind people. It just doesn't happen. I mean, not that often. People develop social skills over time. |
Jack Canfield |
Write your goals down in detail and read your list of goals every day. Some goals may entail a list of shorter goals. Losing a lot of weight, for example, should include mini-goals, such as 10-pound milestones. This will keep your subconscious mind focused on what you want step by step. |

The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act would expand research on embryonic stem cells by increasing the number of lines stem cells that would be eligible for federally funded research. |

There is one thing in this good old world that is positively sure - happiness is for all who strive to be happy - and those who laugh are happy. Everybody is eligible - you - me - the other fellow. Happiness is fundamentally a state of mind - not a state of body. |

I'm never going to let nobody take those kids. They Michael's kids. They have no right to try to take those kids. It's going to be a big mess over that. |

And that's one thing that helps me is I learn it blandly, vanilla, then I don't try to act it too soon because you start to act it, and you kind of go away from what the next sentence is, what the next paragraph is. So get it down so it kind of can - it's in there so you can then, as I call it, dance on top of it. |

Hey everyone! I'm Charlie's buddy MiiIIiIIIiiRRiiAAmmmMMmm for those of you who don't know me (and Reed's roommate if any of you know him). I was hoping maybe one or two or three of you could help me out with something. I AM IN NEED OF KIDS.
Explanation: I'm learning how to administer cognitive tests to kids as part of my training in clinical psychology. I need to find children ages 6 to 16 that would be willing to take practice cognitive tests with me this summer (and parents that are willing), but I don't know any in kids in Michigan. Do any of you have siblings/cousins that are kids or know people who have kids that might be interested? A lot of kids actually find it fun, and I would give them a small prize/thank-you gift. I'm also really, really desperate. ...

I had a series of dreams where I brutally murdered a lot of people. The last one had something to do with me hammering this stake into the ground. This 6'5" balding red-haired dude with glasses was not happy about that for some reason and was chasing me with this boomerang axe thing. He tried to throw it at me and I jumped out of the way. For some reason I had one too and I threw mine at him and it hit him right above the eyes. He fell over and was laying on the ground with his eyes open staring upward. I thought he was dead. I walked over and he wasn't, so I sliced his head open with the axe thing and then I woke up.

I had a dream that Ben and I were stuck in this huge building that was sometimes an airplane and we kept moving through small doorways and windows of rooms mashed together in ways you'd not see in real life. Every room was different but all of them were kind of old and dusty and kind of gross looking. Some of them just had cracks in the wall that you could see through and it was like looking into completely different worlds. There were some people but no one acknowledged we were there. As we crawled through the rooms they got smaller and more claustrophobic feeling. Eventually we just started ripping the walls down. Then someone came up to us and told us they were going to kick us off the plane and I woke up.

How Facebook Figures Out Everyone You've Ever Met
"I deleted Facebook after it recommended as People You May Know a man who was defense counsel on one of my cases. We had only communicated through my work email, which is not connected to my Facebook, which convinced me Facebook was scanning my work email," an attorney told Gizmodo. Kashmir Hill, a reporter at the news outlet, who recently documented how Facebook figured out a connection between her and a family member she did not know existed, shares several more instances others have reported and explains how Facebook gathers information. She reports: Behind the Facebook profile you've built for yourself is another one, a shadow profile,...

Facebook Is Giving Advertisers Access To Your Shadow Contact Information
Last week, I ran an ad on Facebook targeted at a computer science professor named Alan Mislove. Mislove studies how privacy works on social networks and had a theory that Facebook is letting advertisers reach users with contact information collected in surprising ways. I was helping him test the theory by targeting him in a way Facebook had previously told me wouldn't work. I directed the ad to display to a Facebook account connected to the landline number for Alan Mislove's office, a number Mislove has never provided to Facebook. He saw the ad within hours.

Bizarre futurism thought: Imagine a future where tech education is a mandatory component of schooling for all ages. Now, combine that with some kind of companion robot that kids receive when they are young and custom upgrade as they learn how throughout their life. Does the robot's development become an external symbol of the child's internal development? Would people have robot envy? Would rich assholes hire people to mod their robots in ways they don't understand (definitely)? STRANGE!
