My idol growing up was Charlie Chaplin. I was obsessed with him. I mean, while other kids were watching Jim Carrey and the likes in the '90s, I was watching Charlie Chaplin films, because I was a bit of a geek. I became obsessed with this idea of physical comedy. |
Stephen Gaghan |
I know Charlie Kaufman really well, for instance. Charlie Kaufman starts a story, and he has no freaking idea where he's going. None. Zero. And he doesn't want to know, because there's a little bit of death in that. |
Jennifer Hale |
On a Bioware game, if I say anything that's not on the page, It would create a bug in the system, and it would kick back, and I would have to do it again due the technical demands they deal with. |
Michael Badnarik |
Gun control means being able to hit your target. If I have a 'hot button' issue, this is definitely it. Don't even think about taking my guns. My rights are not negotiable, and I am totally unwilling to compromise when it comes to the Second Amendment. |
Jon Hamm |
I have a lady, she's a great lady. I love her a lot, she loves me. We're on the same page. Whenever that day happens when we're not on the same page we'll move forward with it. We're interested in having our lives be our lives right now and not a third person's vis-a-vis marriage and whatever that means. |
Winston Churchill |
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack. |
Vivian Campbell |
These are very difficult times for new artists. Back in the day, a hit song could really seep into a person's DNA with radio and MTV. A hit today is not the same as a hit twenty years ago. Now there is so much competition, it is very hard to reach the people. The music scene is so overly saturated. There are no gatekeepers like there used to be. |
Evan Daugherty |
I wouldn't say I see things visually first, but what I do think is important, for a lot of screenwriters, is to not just think about the words on the page, but also the world as a whole and the vibe of the movie, rather than a sequence of scenes written on the page. |
Mick Jagger |
As long as my face is on page one, I don't care what they say about me on page seventeen. |
Mike Davidson |
We reduced the size of our front page code by about 50%, and by using absolute positioning, we are able to display important parts of the page before other parts may have fully loaded yet. |

1 In 4 Statisticians Say They Were Asked To Commit Scientific Fraud (acsh.org)
As the saying goes, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." We know that's true because statisticians themselves just said so. From a report:
A stunning report published in the Annals of Internal Medicine concludes that researchers often ask statisticians to make "inappropriate requests." And by "inappropriate," the authors aren't referring to accidental requests for incorrect statistical analyses; instead, they're referring to requests for unscrupulous data manipulation or even fraud....

Things I think I'm going to implement after April 14th:
1. Button to toggle anonymity of a post if it is yours 2. Input box on thought page will work like a chat box and update in realtime
Then ...? 3. Profile picture uploads 4. Graphs of user language usage statistics on user profiles? ...

Charlie, I like the new research page. (I don't know how new it actually is, but it can't have been there more than a couple months tops). How much do you pay in hosting fees per year? I'd be totally happy to chip in.

Today I want to talk about a large DDOS attack that leveraged thousands of unsuspecting WordPress websites as indirect source amplification vectors.
Any WordPress site with Pingback enabled (which is on by default) can be used in DDOS attacks against other sites. Note that XMLRPC is used for pingbacks, trackbacks, remote access via mobile devices and many other features you?re likely very fond of. But, it can also be heavily misused like what we are seeing.
The story

The bookmark button on twitter is so bad. Like the design... is so bad. You have to click the bracket+arrow button which looks like it represents a file upload and then it brings up the "share" menu, and part of the share menu is bookmark? What the fuck? that has NOTHING to do with sharing. it's just saving it for myself. SO BAD holy shit.

Thinklynx is finally back! My thoughts have been so disconnected but now I can finally piece them together again. Why aren't there more novelty vehicles on the road? Are we really supposed to believe the difference between an IQ of 100 and 70 is the same as between an IQ of 130 and 100? Should I cancel my plans with a friend who is pretty late by this point or just wait it out? Should legal text even be called English?
I've missed you, Thinklynx.

Arjun and I had the best waiter. I was looking for a specific beer at Ashley's that happened to be on the one page of the 20ish page menu that was missing and our waiter knew what it was after I gave a super vague description of it. He also had amazing dance moves.
