I had a dream that there was some kind of animal I was supposed to help or save? It was a lot clearer to me before I sat down to start writing it... |

Drawing makes you see things clearer, and clearer and clearer still, until your eyes ache. |

We need your help. I need your help. We need money for research. It may not save my life. It may save my children's life. It may save someone you love. And it's very important. |

I'd gone into that restaurant and sat down and the waitress had taken my order and everybody else had seen me with this what must have looked like this creature, this animal, sitting on the top of my head! |
Karl Marx |
The human being is in the most literal sense a political animal, not merely a gregarious animal, but an animal which can individuate itself only in the midst of society. |

We've always dreamt of a TV series and working in film. When we first sat down to seriously write 'A Little Nightmare Music,' to write something for TV was our original inspiration. But all the stuff we were writing down is not going to work on stage. We had to rewrite it so it would work on the stage. |

I have plenty of dream roles because there is so much I want to do, but my dream year would be to be in a single-camera comedy and then, on my hiatus, film a little low-budget indie drama. That would be a dream 12-month period. A dream role depends on having good material and working with people that I can learn from. |

The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they're supposed to like, what they're supposed to buy, and what they're supposed to laugh at. |

You not supposed to feel down over whatever happen to you. I mean, you're supposed to use whatever happen to you as some type of upper, not a downer. |

In many ways, history is marked as 'before' and 'after' Rosa Parks. She sat down in order that we all might stand up, and the walls of segregation came down. |

You don't have to play a whole lot of guitar to be a good blues player. Some people plays too much guitar. Stack it on top of each other the way it don't - you're working too fast. Blues not supposed to be played fast. Blues supposed to be played slow. You could kill a man with just one chord. |

I had a dream and I only remember part of it but I think I found a snake and I picked it up and threw it at this other animal. I think the other animal was a dog maybe? I am not sure. I also wasn't trying to hurt either of them. It was a very neutral snake throwing, but the snake totally killed the dog.

I had a dream that I was in some big building with someone else and we were supposed to attend some supposedly important event. We got in an elevator and it started falling and it was like the cord was cut at some point below us and we got out of the top of the elevator and grabbed onto the cord and the thing just fell into a bottomless pit. I guess it was glass so we could kind of see what was going to happen and then we were trying to figure out how to climb back up.

I had a dream that there were these two aquatic animals and they were both parasites but one was like the size of a squirrel and one was like a small beetle. The larger one attached it self to some cat sized aquatic mammal, like a beaver or something and it was trying to kill the animal to feed it's babies and then the small parasite latched onto the bigger one and triggered something to happen to it and it's head opened up and there was this exposed brain and it was dying at the same time the larger animal was dying. So weird.

Read a book that you love again. If it's the second or third time, try to think about what kind of world the author believes in and how their writing reflects that belief.

I had a dream that I was supposed to teach and I thought it was one class but then I walked in a minute before it started and asked who was there for this other class and they all raised their hands, so that's when I realized I was supposed to teach a different class. I had to go to another room to get my stuff and I knew I would be late and I was trying to figure out what to teach as I was walking to get my stuff and back to the classroom.

the scene changes to someone who seems to be plotting something, kinda makes you suspicious, and you're like "who's this little trickster, and what's he so excited about?" so you're supposed to start getting that maybe clancy is about to have some bigger problems in her life real soon.
the dramatic irony!!!

Well, I think the feeling and relationships in the dean are more important than the specific symbols. To be clearer, they accepted his commands in the beginning because they wanted his money and they expected him to die soon, but he didn't, so they were stuck doing what he said for waaay longer than expected. That suggests to me that the dream was about some choice I made where I made a concession of my freedom in exchange for something else that I wanted, not expecting to be bound up for such a long time.

1: To get started, write one true sentence.
Hemingway had a simple trick for overcoming writer's block. In a memorable passage in A Moveable Feast, he writes:
Sometimes when I was starting a new story and I could not get it going, I would sit in front of the fire and squeeze the peel of the little oranges into the edge of the flame and watch the sputter of blue that they made. I would stand and look out over the roofs of Paris and think, "Do not worry. You have always written before and you will write now. All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you kno...

I had a dream that I was on vacation or something and some woman I didn't know was assaulting me. It was kind of spooky and then at some point I said "wait is this a dream" and she said "yeah" and then I was like "oh okay".
