After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military. |

When I was a child, there were not that many vaccines. I was vaccinated for polio. I actually got measles as a child. I got pertussis, whooping cough. I remember that very well. |

We have a shotgun we inherited from my father-in-law, a paranoid Englishman living in Texas. I have a .22 Marlin rifle, similar to the one Annie Oakley had, and my husband has a .357 Magnum pistol. All those are locked up tight, of course. We have a couple of pellet guns that get more use than the real guns. |

I landed the role of Bravo 5, the only female fighter pilot in 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.' I did my bit and fired my guns, but I haven't a notion of which side I was on or who I was firing the guns at. |
Joseph Stalin |
Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas. |

If it wasn't for KISS, there would be no Guns N' Roses. Bands like that made Guns N' Roses. We were five guys with five personalities and five different influences. The stars were aligned for us. |

Let me be a free man - free to travel, free to stop, free to work. |

Well, Art is Art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now you tell me what you know. |
Marcel Proust |
As long as men are free to ask what they must, free to say what they think, free to think what they will, freedom can never be lost and science can never regress. |

We also want to try and slow down all this foolishness that's going on between the East and West. We gotta understand that Hip Hop is now universal. Hip Hop is not East coast or West coast. |

Oh god, I had a dream that I gave birth after witnessing like 10 other women miscarry/have abortions. Then I was like, "What the fuck? How did I get this far along in a pregnancy without thinking about the consequences? FUUUUUCK." But I accepted it as fact and started trying to figure out what the implications were for my relationship and moving out to the west coast. Then I woke up and realized none of it was true, and it was a relief but still mortifying. This is the second "giving birth oh god how did I not consider the consequences" dream I've had. They're awful.

This guy won the Loebner prize last year for having the most human-like chat bot. You can talk to it at mitsuku.com. It's pretty impressive. He has a page where he says he is giving away a prize to a winner of a Pacman tournament. I hacked the tournament to put me in first place, but I misread his page and thought he was giving away his Loebner medal, but it turns out he is giving away his t-shirt...

Dude or dudette, I have trouble with this all the time. My thoughts is that EVERYONE is capable of being considerate and bettering themselves but they just don't care. However I think after years or decades of not giving a shit about anyone but themselves, they get stuck in that mindset. Nurture is so important because as we know most people tend not to change thaaat much, so if they are being raised well then they end up having these lifelong values stuck with them.
I've seen tons of people who seem incapable of considering others, but I find that at least some reflect on their actions, but when they are in the thick of it, don't consider or reflect on those thoughts, which I get, it's hard to be active and reflect at the same time. ...

I'm not sure. I do think its more likely that those born in money have an attitude that they're family is smarter and harder working than the less fortunate. But they certainly didn't make their fortune giving money away. But those who don't have money probably don't share their money either. But I think they would better understand what being in the bottom of the 99% lives like.
It really comes down more to how one was raised. People who are raised well are just good people. You don't see shitty snobby kids from parents that teach lessons and enforce boundaries. ...

he creator of a chatbot which overturned more than 160,000 parking fines and helped vulnerable people apply for emergency housing is now turning the bot to helping refugees claim asylum. The original DoNotPay, created by Stanford student Joshua Browder, describes itself as "the world's first robot lawyer", giving free legal aid to users through a simple-to-use chat interface. The chatbot, using Facebook Messenger, can now help refugees fill in an immigration application in the US and Canada. For those in the UK, it helps them apply for asylum support. The London-born developer worked with lawyers in each country, as well as speaking to asylum seekers whose applications have been successful. Browder says this new functionality for his robot lawyer is "long overdue". He told the Guardian: "I've been trying to launch this for about six months -- I initially wanted to do it in the summer. But I wanted to make sure I got it right because it's such a complicated issue. I kept showing it to ...

Daniel Dennett answers the question of the existence of free will by saying there are different kinds of free will and the one that becomes apparent from Laplacian determinism isn't worth wanting. This is entirely dissatisfying.
