Thieves steal a Tesla Model S by hacking the entry fob
Breaking in to the EV was easier than unplugging it.
A Tesla owner who recorded thieves stealing his Model S by hacking the passive entry system has published the video on YouTube so we can all watch (and learn). It shows the crooks using a tablet to apparently capture the passive signal from his keyfob, then using the data to open the vehicle. Amusingly, the pair didn't drive off as quickly as they could have simply because they couldn't figure out how to detach the charging cable (hint: there's a button).

Last Sunday I drank a coffee at 9pm, and then took a Sudafed at 11. I tried to go to bed around 2-3 after watching boardwalk empire, and obviously could not (Sudafed + coffee = kind of speedy). I should mention for a half hour before I went to sleep, I read all about the real life mobsters form that era, murder inc, etc. (what am I going to find out that I didn't last week from wikipedia?).
Anyway, I finally fell asleep around 5, and had a wonderful stress dream (nightmare some might call it, but I don't frighten easily) where I was shot in the neck, but in order to make sense of it and the angles of blood spurt or something, I had to realize a linear basis for the entire system of 1920s mobsters. An international team of scientists has demonstrated for the first time that it is possible to generate a measurable amount of electricity in a diode directly from the coldness of the universe. The infrared semiconductor device faces the sky and uses the temperature difference between Earth and space to produce the electricity. FCC Approves First Wireless 'Power-At-A-Distance' Charging System

The FCC has approved the first wireless charger that works from up to three feet away. Engadget reports: San Jose-based startup, Energous, announced on Tuesday that it has received the first such FCC certification for power-at-a-distance wireless charging with its WattUp Mid Field transmitter. The transmitter converts electricity into radio frequencies, then beams the energy to nearby devices outfitted with a corresponding receiver. This differs from the resonant induction method that the Pi wireless charging system relies upon and offers a greater range than the Belkin and Mophie chargers that require physical contact with the device. Climate Change Will Cause Beer Shortages and Price Hikes, Study Says
A new study from Nature Plants has identified the one climate-related issue that can unite people from myriad political backgrounds -- beer. From a report:
Led by Wei Xie, an agricultural scientist at Peking University, the paper finds that regions that grow barley, the primary crop used to brew beer, are projected to experience severe droughts and heat waves due to anthropogenic climate change.
