It's like simulating earthquakes: we can over and over study a bubble, crash, bubble, crash. Then we can see mathematically if there's some regular pattern and what's going on in people's brains when prices are going up and before the crash is happening. |
Ram Dass |
Before the stroke, I was on a very spiritual plane. I ignored my body, took it for granted. When I look at my life, I see that I wanted to be free of the physical plane, the psychological plane, and when I got free of those, I didn't want to go anywhere near them. But the stroke reminded me that I had a body and a brain, that I had to honor them. |

Flying back from New York, the flight attendant said 'God, I wished you were here yesterday, we had a stroke on the plane. I said, if I have a stroke on a plane, I hope the pretend doctor isn't the one on the plane. I want a real doctor. |

The word survivor suggests someone who has emerged alive from a plane crash or a natural disaster. But the word can also refer to the loved ones of murder victims, and this was the sense in which it was used at a four-day conference in early June at Boston College. |

I have plenty of dream roles because there is so much I want to do, but my dream year would be to be in a single-camera comedy and then, on my hiatus, film a little low-budget indie drama. That would be a dream 12-month period. A dream role depends on having good material and working with people that I can learn from. |

I grew up reading comic books. Super hero comic books, Archie comic books, horror comic books, you name it. |

I saw why people died and how they died. I saw gunshot wounds and liver failure. It was a good learning experience, so I came regularly on weekends and holidays. |

That was after Napoleon died because there is still a controversy as to whether Napoleon was poisoned with arsenic. And the French say the British did it and the British say the French did it, but he died before the test for arsenic was available. |

I think I would have written more books if I'd had fewer kids or had them earlier, but I think the books in general would have had a little less spark to them. |

I lost my parents very early in my life. My mom died three weeks after I graduated from high school, and my dad died two years after I got married. |

I had a dream that an airplane crashed into someone's house. The plane seemed fine and the house was not. A woman walked out of the rubble and started hitting the plane with a stick and the plane was flopping around like an injured bird. The woman's daughter came out of the rubble and knew that if her mom kept hitting the plane it would keep flopping and eventually it would break and kill everyone inside. The daughter decided she had to save everyone's lives and she pulled out a chainsaw and cut her mom's head off. The rest of the dream was experiencing a mental breakdown from the point of view of the daughter.

I had a dream I decided to go to Columbia University and also that I had a sister and that she died. It was disturbing.

I had a dream that there were these metallic looking snakes that lived in lakes in Michigan and if they bit you your eyesight would get better and better but also everyone that got bit died soon after.

I had a dream I was with my partner and we had to go home but she was too tired so I was carrying here and rollerblading (sounds hard, right?) and it was dark out. A meteorite flew down from the sky and made a large crash just up ahead of us and I thought "we should go check for rare metals because those are worth some money," but then we got up there and all these people were sifting through and it looked like it was just legos. Pretty disappointing.
Seems like I think too much about money. Not sure what the rest is about.

Wow I still remember this dream. I found out she died and then I checked my phone and I had a bunch of missed calls from her.

Dream from 6/20/2012:
"I was in my room and my older brother was on my bed with some guy and he handed me a dvd case filled with cds and said 'heres your cds back, your library books are probably late'. I opened the case and there were like 10 cds and I only had two so I threw the rest back at my brother and walked away. Then I was in a different house I'd never seen with my roommates from Flint and they were telling me that I should return my library books but that the library was probably closed. I didn't want to return this book on artificial intelligence so I was trying to figure out if they were going to charge me for anything. Then I was in my kitchen and I pulled my backpack out of the freezer in front of my parents and was pretending that it wasn't weird"

I had a dream that my mom loved my sister more than me and was not at all trying to hide it. When I confronted her about it, she agreed but made excuses for it. Francis bought her a present and she was rude and rejecting of it.
Also in my dream, the smoke alarm in my house went off, and we went outside and saw that our next-door neighbors' house was burning down. I tried to call the police, but they were being really unhelpful. In the end, I'm pretty sure the wife/mother in the house died, and maybe one or two of the kids, too. I felt partially responsible, but maybe just in a survivors'-guilt way.
