I believe that the brain has evolved over millions of years to be responsive to different kinds of content in the world. Language content, musical content, spatial content, numerical content, etc. |
Elton Gallegly |
Hospitals are closing across the country due to the burden of illegal immigration, college students find that summer jobs have dried up due to illegal immigration, and wages across the board are depressed by the overwhelming influx of cheap and illegal labor. |
Nick D'Aloisio |
There is a generation of skimmers. It's not that they don't want to read in-depth content, but they want to evaluate what the content is before they commit time. Especially on a mobile phone - you don't have the phone, or cellular data, or screen size to be reading full-length content. |
Bob Iger |
Netflix, Amazon, iTunes - whatever platforms emerge - we are looking at as having the same potential that home video had for the movie business. Which means there are entirely new opportunities to monetize our capital investment in content and do so in ways that work for distributors, for consumers and for creators. |
Bob Dylan |
Being noticed can be a burden. Jesus got himself crucified because he got himself noticed. So I disappear a lot. |
Elton Gallegly |
Every unskilled illegal immigrant who enters the United States for work drives up healthcare costs for every American. And, every illegal immigrant we turn a blind eye toward weakens the rule of law our country is founded on. |
Spencer Bachus |
Illegal immigrants are beginning to comprise a black market class of workers in our society, jeopardizing the financial health of companies which play by the rules, while themselves vulnerable to the exploitation by those willing to take advantage of their illegal status. |

I love travelling, and had the pleasure of being in the most developed country in the world and then parts of two of the most pristine natural areas of the world: the Galapagos islands and the Equador Amazon jungle. The contrast was incredible. |

It is estimated that raising the retirement age to 70 would cut the shortfall by about 36%. But this proposal has some drawbacks. Women and men who have worked jobs that require manual labor all of their lives may not physically be able to do work until they are 70 years old. |

Amazon Will Pay $0 in Federal Taxes on $11.2 Billion Profits (fortune.com)
Those wondering how many zeros Amazon, which is valued at nearly $800 billion, has to pay in federal taxes might be surprised to learn that its check to the IRS will read exactly $0.00. From a report:
According to a report published by the Institute on Taxation and Economic (ITEP) policy Wednesday, the e-tail/retail/tech/entertainment/everything giant won't have to pay a cent in federal taxes for the second year in a row. This tax-free break comes even though Amazon almost doubled its U.S. profits from $5.6 billion t...

Amazon Is Finally Profitable, Earns $2.5 Billion Over the Last Three Months
Amazon topped $2 billion in quarterly profit for the first time in its history, an impressive run fueled by continued growth in Prime subscriptions, cloud computing and its nascent advertising business. Amazon said Thursday that it earned $2.5 billion in profit for the three months ending in June, a staggering jump from the $197 million it posted in the same period last year. It marked the third consecutive quarter that Amazon has topped $1 billion in profit, a remarkable feat for a company once known for investing so much in its business that it often lost money. "The profitability trajectory appears to be accelerating quicker than expected," Daniel Ives, an analyst with GBH Insights, wrote in an investor note ...

Just when im walking around and distinctly notice a pinecone i feel it isnt coincidence. usually when i vibrantly notice one, i am in a spiritual mindset or contempation. sometimes when i have been treating my body and mind poorly ill notice destroyed or ugly pinecones. sometimes when im feeling fantastic and aware, i see an extra beautiful pinecone or one what is open wide or a bunch of them. the pineal glad represents the pinecone. so i decided to look for these coincidences as an affirmation of my 3rd sight, my connection to the higher realms, etc.

SPs Won't Promise To Treat All Traffic Equally After Net Neutrality
An anonymous reader writes: The FCC voted to put an end to net neutrality, giving internet providers free rein to deliver service at their own discretion. There's really only one condition here: internet providers will have to disclose their policies regarding "network management practices, performance, and commercial terms." So if ISPs want to block websites, throttle your connection, or charge certain websites more, they'll have to admit it. We're still too far out to know exactly what disclosures all the big ISPs are going to make -- the rules (or lack thereof) don't actually go into effect for another few months -- bu...

I had a dream that I set up a server in a Meijer and left it in plain sight and no one questioned why it was there and I used it for illegal activities.

An idea that came from lots of caffeine and appeared to sort of work when I tried it. When alone, with no distractions, try to think of random and creative things. You will soon notice a sort of limitation to the form and rapidity that these things have and come into your mind. At that point, consciously choose to stop and think more outside of the box, with broader shapes and ideas. Feel out the edges of where this new approach can take you and you will soon encounter another wall of sorts past which your mind isn't really creative enough to go. At this point, again consciously stop imagining strange things and focus entirely on your senses and spatial awareness. For me I noticed that by trying to push the limits of the inside of my head I felt a noticeable difference in the way I percieved the "real" world. I felt as though the space my body and mind occupy have been given more room, more fresh air, more fluidity. This was especially noticeable with my hearing, which seemed much sha...
