I feel as though you've buried the lede: did you, or did you not, teach this person to do a backflip? And, if so, how were the coins, hell-spawn, and biological implosion involved?
Inquiring mind(s) need to know. |

I think my gap adds character. A while ago, on the street, a guy yelled, 'You could stick a gold through your front teeth!' Which meant I could put a £1 coin between them. But you can't. I've tried! Fifty-pence coins and 2-pence coins, yes. But not a pound. |

You can teach all the other stuff, you know. You can teach shooting the ball, you can teach having a good touch... passing and whatnot, but when you get out there on the field, it's just a mindset you need to go into the game with. |
Dave Eggers |
You can do and use the skills that you have. The schools need you. The teachers need you. Students and parents need you. They need your actual person: your physical personhood and your open minds and open ears and boundless compassion, sitting next to them, listening and nodding and asking questions for hours at a time. |

When I came to the Senate in 1997, the world was being redefined by forces no single country controlled or understood. The implosion of the Soviet Union and a historic diffusion of economic and geopolitical power created new influences and established new global power centers - and new threats. |

I love steakhouses. When I'm in Chicago, I know there's a Gibsons that's open late. 13 Coins at Sea-Tac Airport in Washington is a gourmet restaurant I love. |

I grab coins and tees in my travels, but I usually mark my ball with a coin from Argentina, either a peso or a 10-centavo piece. |

Once you get a spice in your home, you have it forever. Women never throw out spices. The Egyptians were buried with their spices. I know which one I'm taking with me when I go. |

My closest friend, who died not long ago, is buried near Marx's grave in Highgate cemetery, so I see the gaggle of admirers laying roses at the foot of his tombstone regularly. I have never been tempted to leave flowers there myself. Great theories, shame about the practice. Marx did many things. But inventing class was not one of them. |
Antonio Damasio |
You still have only one self and one identity. However, self, identity and personality are not things, they are not objects, and they certainly are not rigid. Instead, they are biological processes built within the brain from numerous interactive components, step by step, over a period of time. |

I had a dream that I was supposed to teach and I thought it was one class but then I walked in a minute before it started and asked who was there for this other class and they all raised their hands, so that's when I realized I was supposed to teach a different class. I had to go to another room to get my stuff and I knew I would be late and I was trying to figure out what to teach as I was walking to get my stuff and back to the classroom.

Rebecca Porter and I were strangers, as far as I knew. Facebook, however, thought we might be connected. Her name popped up this summer on my list of "People You May Know," the social network's roster of potential new online friends for me. [...] She showed up on the list after about a month: an older woman, living in Ohio, with whom I had no Facebook friends in common. I did not recognize her, but her last name was familiar. My biological grandfather is a man I've never met, with the last name Porter, who abandoned my father when he was a baby. My father was adopted by a man whose last name was Hill, and he didn't find out about his biological father until adulthood. The Porter family lived in Ohio. Growing up half a country away, in Florida, I'd known these blood relatives were out there, but there was no reason to think I would ever meet them. A few years ago, my father eventually did meet his biological father, along with two uncles and an aunt, when they sought him out during a t...

Where else would they try.... Does not compute.
Also, hella jealous that you can backflip. My combination of arm weakness and waaay too much leg length = years of failed attempts. Sigh.

you might have adhd if you: procrastinate peeing bc you don't want to get up, then after finally getting up you walk past the kitchen, think about ravioli, forget what you were doing, so you make yourself a five-course meal, eat it, and you remember you need to pee, but when you stand up and forget again, and then you see you nintendo switch over on the comfy couch so you sit down and play 2 days of stardew valley, but the whole time you feel anxious and irritated for some reason and you think it's because someone's talking when YOU'RE TRYING TO FOCUS on fixing up your farm, and then the person you just yelled at realizes the reason you yelled at them is absurd, so the person asks "do you need to pee or something?" And then you're like THANK YOU YES, THAT'S WHAT I GOT UP TO DO AN HOUR AGO AND ACCIDENTALLY MADE A FIVE-COURSE MEAL!!!

Interaction becomes so competitive. People mock each other like that is humor when it's really a way to lessen the intensity of the effect a person has on you. When someone reaches out, anything less than an equal return is a blow to your ego's importance. The more people recognize you, the less you need to try and win alliances so you can reject people who make you feel less sexy.

Not necessarily. Who is to say they have changed to be something different from what you are thinking about? Why do you think it is necessary to talk to a person for them to exist? Do you not already have an impression of this person from talking to them in the first place? Is anyone really what you think of them?
