did you go to different realities in the different parts of the hotel? in theory if everything is frequencies then you could make an xavier-style method of searching out certain kinds of people based on their vibration patterns (potentially even searching out thoughts by the way it effects the physical body) then by identifying these frequencies or individuals, you could send out signals on the same wavelength to disrupt them or locate them |

MIT's AI Uses Radio Signals To See People Through Walls
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a new piece of software that uses wifi signals to monitor the movements, breathing, and heartbeats of humans on the other side of walls. Facebook has filed several patent applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for technology that uses your location data to predict where you're going and when you're going to be offline. BuzzFeed News reports:

like what would you have to do create a fake building in everyones reality? or have a whole fake world for people to live in?
i cant find the study, but they made sensors to put on your arms in conjunction with a VR headset and it would make items in the game physical boundaries in real life, by shocking you at different levels to simulate an actual physical barrier.
