Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it. |
Seth Gabel |
I think everyone thinks their family is insane, and every family is insane. There is no real normal. |
Romola Garai |
If you are an actress in L.A., on your 40th birthday they should just hand you the keys to the lunatic asylum. |
Samuel Adams |
Our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty. |
Tony Abbott |
Most of the people who are coming to Australia by boat have passed through several countries on the way, and if they simply wanted asylum they could have claimed that in any of the countries through which they'd passed. |
Aleksey Igudesman |
For me, personally, the most interesting music comes from the popular sector - from film and pop music - since contemporary classical music got stuck and went into directions where it lost a lot of the public by over-intellectualizing. |
Chanakya |
The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all directions. |
Clint Eastwood |
Fate pulls you in different directions. |
Drew Gilpin Faust |
The ability to recognize opportunities and move in new - and sometimes unexpected - directions will benefit you no matter your interests or aspirations. A liberal arts education is designed to equip students for just such flexibility and imagination. |
Greg Egan |
Pop science goes flying off in all kinds of fashionable directions, and it often drags a lot of SF writers with it. I've been led astray like that myself at times. |

I had a dream that I was in an insane asylum and they were testing drugs on people and they gave me one that they wanted to use to control people's bodies. It didn't work and it made people seize when they tried it. It killed a lot of people. They would try to activate the chemical at certain times and I think that corresponded to my real life stomach pain.

he creator of a chatbot which overturned more than 160,000 parking fines and helped vulnerable people apply for emergency housing is now turning the bot to helping refugees claim asylum. The original DoNotPay, created by Stanford student Joshua Browder, describes itself as "the world's first robot lawyer", giving free legal aid to users through a simple-to-use chat interface. The chatbot, using Facebook Messenger, can now help refugees fill in an immigration application in the US and Canada. For those in the UK, it helps them apply for asylum support. The London-born developer worked with lawyers in each country, as well as speaking to asylum seekers whose applications have been successful. Browder says this new functionality for his robot lawyer is "long overdue". He told the Guardian: "I've been trying to launch this for about six months -- I initially wanted to do it in the summer. But I wanted to make sure I got it right because it's such a complicated issue. I kept showing it to ...

Vonnegut is pretty spectacular. He throws endless insane concepts and situations at you with no fluff or unneeded words and they all contain a lesson.

Thinklynx is finally back! My thoughts have been so disconnected but now I can finally piece them together again. Why aren't there more novelty vehicles on the road? Are we really supposed to believe the difference between an IQ of 100 and 70 is the same as between an IQ of 130 and 100? Should I cancel my plans with a friend who is pretty late by this point or just wait it out? Should legal text even be called English?
I've missed you, Thinklynx.

I had a dream that the national surveilance state was trying to arrest me. Trump daddy was personally aware of me. All the cellphones were listening for me. My crimes were political dissidence and anarchist apologetics which had recently become illegal. The main action of the dream was me running around this insane hotel being chased by federal agents.
