A lot of cool sci fi about it, too if you're into that kind of thing. There was a show called stargate universe where they were trying to figure out what it all meant. And then it got cancelled... |

I always take kind of a zen view of casting and I really don't remember people who passed. I kind of turn it over to the universe and figure, 'Wow, I guess that wasn't meant to be.' It doesn't sit with me. |

The quickest way to defuse fear or insecurity or anger is usually humor. I think comics figure that out quickly, and, once you figure it out, you think, 'Hey, if I can do this and get paid, that would be kind of cool.' |

I've been on so many primetime shows that were cancelled - after one episode, after 10 episodes, after just one season. I got used to that. But I found myself choking up a bit at 'OLTL.' It was really hard to say goodbye to those people. It was not the way we wanted to go out. |

When I was a child, I thought I was going to be a paleontologist because I loved dinosaurs. I loved monster movies and sci-fi, and then 'Star Wars' came out, and I was completely out of my mind with that, with 'Close Encounters,' and then I thought maybe I was going to go into special effects makeup, which I thought was awesome. |

I would sign on for projects that were meant to shoot in July, and then they would postponed and they would bleed into the following semester, and then I'd take a semester off, and then the movie would collapse. |

If you take something out of the freezer, it's cold, but what happens when it melts? It's a cool party, a cool person, a cool collection. What does that mean? I'm more interested in things that are uncool, things that have a certain individuality, a certain soul, a certain longevity, emotion, fragility. |

You know Hollywood is a weird and wonderful place, I didn't know I Dream of Jeanie had been cancelled after 5 years until I went back to go on the lot to pick up some clothes and things I had in my dressing room. |

In Sufi terms, there are two very interesting notions of transcendence. One is to gaze out at the universe and to comprehend that what you see out there reflects what you are. The other one is to look inside yourself and recognise that the universe is present there. |

I was always a sci-fi and fantasy geek. I was in the 'Lord of the Rings' club and all my cool friends made fun of me. |

There were years when I was a beer and tequila guy, then I got real fat. And then I found that you could actually go on a diet and drink scotch. Then I got hooked on scotch, and if you get hooked on scotch, then everything else just tastes wrong. |

There's a hole that takes you to other holes on other planets where evil aliens enslave other humans across the galaxy. Then earth fights them with p90s which are way more effective than laser staffs. It's kind of campy, and has some humor. Then they made Stargate Universe to capitalize on the BSG stuff, so it's super dark (one of the characters gets ALS haha). Season 3 finale of BSG might be the best tv I've ever seen.

One of the best emails I have received (edited for brevity) about a job that I configured wrong on a supercomputer:
"Your job was cancelled as you were asking for resources not available ... [you] were requesting 20 nodes with 4 processors each, and 80gb per processor. While there are a few large memory nodes ... there are not enough to fulfill this request. None of the other, more available node types have 240gb/node available as RAM so your job was never able to run ... so I cancelled your job. Please reconsider your requirements ... Let us know if you have any questions."
Yeah... thats...

I had a dream that I was in some big building with someone else and we were supposed to attend some supposedly important event. We got in an elevator and it started falling and it was like the cord was cut at some point below us and we got out of the top of the elevator and grabbed onto the cord and the thing just fell into a bottomless pit. I guess it was glass so we could kind of see what was going to happen and then we were trying to figure out how to climb back up.

I keep waking up at exactly 8am with no alarm... which is kind of cool because then I sort of have a schedule but is kind of lame because I don't always go to bed at the same time...

I having a recurring dream motif that I'm sure is far from rare. It usually begins in some kind of trivial social or isolated situation where I sense some sort of danger and sure enough, some vague something begins to chase me. Whether it be a sinister sock puppet that can wiggle its way out of my grip and through any obstacle, to a band of aboriginal tribesmen bent on skewering me, to a sweeping hooded figure gliding along a constant pace behind my molasses gait. A vast majority of the time I run in fear for a while, and upon realizing that I can escape I wake up. Other times I realize that the thing I am running from is my own fear, and I stop running to face the creature, only to find that once I do, it no longer exists. What remains is an entirely new and often deeply insightful "choose your own story" kind of adventure that leads to a kind of epiphany or moral lesson. I usually forget it when I wake up, but recognize at the time that it is a profound truth locked within my own su...

"i think the smallest things we do can cause entire dimensional shifts or tangent/parallel paths for us to take. like a deep conversation or a series of events can fundamentally change our universe and the path we (as spiritual beings) are on. like little positive moments (or negative too) can be the seeds for total change in our world, and like the butterfly effect it will affect eternally, the entire universe, from the tiniest random experiences.
"Through our eyes, the universe is perceiving itself. Through our ears, the universe is listening to its harmonies. We are the witnesses through which the universe becomes conscious of its glory, of its magnificence."

Why Disney's Marketing Strategy is so Successful (from a former employee)
I am a Florida escapee who used to work for The Rat, so I've been all up and down and around the nasty underbelly of the Disney thing. I'm not anti-Disney. I'm just saying that because they think of it as a kids thing, as you seem to do, they absolutely miss the fact that Disney has been cultivating itself as a lifestyle brand for almost a CENTURY. Disney is absolutely a total lifestyle choice for those who are willing to be caught up in it. What they sell is "magic". How many parents do you know that sit their toddlers or infant children down in front of Disney movies EVERY DAY? I want you to know that that sort of ...

CERN Scientists Conclude that the Universe Should Not Exist (ign.com)
Scientists at CERN are bemused as to why the universe exists, according to a new study. From a report, shared by a reader: Recent discoveries suggest that there's a perfect symmetry between matter and antimatter - meaning it's not clear why they didn't annihilate each other upon the birth of the universe. CERN's latest study sought to find out whether different magnetic properties accounted for matter's seeming victory after the Big Bang, but found another point of symmetry. Essentially, going by our findings so far, there simply shouldn't be a universe.
