I don't write down my experiences, but I have a very decent memory. I have tons of books in which I write down phrases as they occur to me. That's how I write songs. I'll need a line and I'll go through the books and find it, the right rhyme and everything. |
Jiddu Krishnamurti |
A consistent thinker is a thoughtless person, because he conforms to a pattern; he repeats phrases and thinks in a groove. |
Marilyn Hacker |
When you translate poetry in particular, you're obliged to look at how the writer with whom you're working puts together words, sentences, phrases, the triple tension between the line of verse, the syntax and the sentence. |
Michael Fassbender |
You use words like 'introvert' and 'extrovert,' various traits of a personality. A lot of that stuff, we used in drama school, and that was kind of interesting, to realize my teachers sort of ripped off a lot of Jung. And how much of it is part of our society now, these phrases, introvert and extrovert, where it actually came from. |
Nigel Farage |
I have become increasingly used to the Tory party mimicking our policies and phrases in a desperate effort to pretend to their members they are still Eurosceptic. |
Ronald Reagan |
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. |
Adam Davidson |
Poverty is not the simple result of bad geography, bad culture, bad history. It's the result of us: of the ways that people choose to organize their societies. |
Larry David |
I think we're all good and bad, but good's not funny. Bad is funny. Suppress the good and let the bad out, and then you can be funny. |
Michael Eklund |
The thing is, I never see my characters as psychopaths. I see them as really crippled victims who just happen to do bad things. And I never see them as bad guys; I see them as darker characters. I never see anything as good or bad; it's more light or dark, and the in-between is the grey. |
Roald Dahl |
I find that the only way to make my characters really interesting to children is to exaggerate all their good or bad qualities, and so if a person is nasty or bad or cruel, you make them very nasty, very bad, very cruel. If they are ugly, you make them extremely ugly. That, I think, is fun and makes an impact. |

Agreed. If you desire roboticism and use your human will to achieve that then you are a success. We've all got the power of influence and how you choose to use it is key.

In a cosmic sense, we're just monkeys on a rock swirling through a void. But weve become self aware and enlightened to our condition. We can give the middle finger to the uncaring void and build monuments to our pride and cleverness.

Wild carrots were originally colored purple. The orange hue we commonly see now is a mutation that weve selectively bred for over the years. Red, white, and yellow wild carrots are very common as well.

The original definition of gay was "happy and carefree". Some time after that it became also a colloquil synonym for homosexuality. As time went on a third definition was adopted that means "stupid and bad". We've got a word here that has multiple accepted definitions so get with the times and don't be offended if somebody uses it differently then you do.

Researchers Fool ReCAPTCHA With Google's Own Speech-To-Text Service
Researchers at the University of Maryland have managed to trick Google's reCaptcha system by using Google's own speech-to-text service. "[The researchers] claim that their CAPTCHA-fooling method, unCaptcha, can fool Google's reCaptcha, one of the most popular CAPTCHA systems currently used by hundreds of thousands of websites, with a 90 percent success rate," reports Motherboard. From the report: The researchers originally developed UnCaptcha in 2017, which uses Google's own free speech-to-text service to trick the system into thinking a robot is a human. It's an oroborus of bots: According to their paper, UnCaptcha downl...

Linux.org's DNS Got Hijacked
Linux.org reports: Wednesday afternoon around 5pm EST someone was able to get into the registrar account for our domain and point DNS to another server -- as well as lock us out from changing it. They pointed the domain name to a pretty rude page for most of the evening until Cloudflare stepped in and blocked the domain for us.
After a lot of back and forth with our registrar, we were able to get things back under our control. I'd like to point out that our serve...

Warner Music Signs Record Deal With an Algorithm (theverge.com) 10
Last week, a press release went out to tech and music reporters claiming that little-known startup Endel had become the "first-ever algorithm to sign [a] major label deal" with Warner Music. The news was covered widely, with commentators tossing around phrases like "the end is nigh" while hand-wringing over the idea of coders coming for musicians' label contracts. But the press release wasn't exactly right, and questions about the future of music are even bigger than anyone thought. Endel is an app that generates reactive, personalized "soundscapes" to promote things like focus or relaxation. It takes in data like your location, time, and the weather to create these soundscapes, and the result is not quite "musical" in th...
