I had a dream that I was at some sort of wedding in a country I didn't recognize. They had all these strange traditions that I was trying to figure out and participate in but I had no idea what I was doing. Everyone was wearing a blue, red, or tan colored robe. I was wearing a tan one and people were in groups. I was supposed to be in a group but I couldn't figure out which one. I had some realization that my group must have left already. I didn't know where they were going but I ran out of this room and there was a big glass elevator. There was a guy frantically pointing at the patterns on the tile floor and rambling about the elevator. Three people stood in front of the elevator, me and two women. One women saw this guy and stepped back and the other woman and I got on the elevator. It went down nearly to the bottom and then started moving up again and suddenly fell off the cables and crashed two or three stories below. I crawled out of what was left of the elevator covered in blood and someone asked me who I was. I said I couldn't remember. Then I coughed up more blood and woke up. |

If I decide to make a coat red in the show, it's not just red, I think: is it communist red? Is it cherry cordial? Is it ruby red? Or is it apple red? Or the big red balloon red? |

We have a snap of my dad wearing blue eye shadow, which I would always make fun of. When I was about 12 and first started wearing lipstick, my dad would ask, 'Are you wearing makeup?' I would say back, 'You're wearing more makeup there than I am!' |

Everyone is on the internet but they're not all talking with each other. There are groups upon groups out there, but they don't talk to one another. So while the internet brings everyone into a shared space, it does not necessarily bring them together. |

I ran away from home. I ran away from St. Louis, and then I ran away from the United States of America, because of that terror of discrimination, that horrible beast which paralyzes one's very soul and body. |

I enjoyed 'Gossip Girl' so much. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the cast of that show. I was so intimidated doing that show because I thought, 'Oh my gosh, those people are so young and gorgeous, and I'm a million years old, and I need a spray tan, and I'm going to be wearing all these fabulous clothes.' |

I ran track in high school very competitively, and then ran it D-1 at Boston University. I ran there on an athletic scholarship and chose BU because they had both a good track program and an arts program. |

Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success. |

When I was a child and they burned me out of my home, I was frightened and I ran away. Eventually I ran far away. It was to a place called France. Many of you have been there, and many have not. But I must tell you, ladies and gentlemen, in that country I never feared. It was like a fairyland place. |

They are always telling us that Carolina Blue is not a color, that it is really Columbia blue or sky blue. But there is no bad blood amongst the teammates. All of our kidding is in good fun. |

I was sort of in denial about doing country for awhile but I sort of grew up and realized who I was, what I wanted to say. I think country music is the best music in the world and I'm glad to be doing a country album. I hope people will love it as much as I loved making it. |
