Some people have greatness thrust upon them. Very few have excellence thrust upon them. |
Herman Cain |
Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks. If you don't have a job and you are not rich, blame yourself! |
Roger Federer |
I enjoyed the position I was in as a tennis player. I was to blame when I lost. I was to blame when I won. And I really like that, because I played soccer a lot too, and I couldn't stand it when I had to blame it on the goalkeeper. |
Jean-Paul Sartre |
There are two types of poor people, those who are poor together and those who are poor alone. The first are the true poor, the others are rich people out of luck. |
Rainer Maria Rilke |
If your daily life seems poor, do not blame it; blame yourself that you are not poet enough to call forth its riches; for the Creator, there is no poverty. |
Enzo Ferrari |
Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. |
Robert Irwin |
The whole thrust of modern art, as far as I understand it, is expanding the role of the artist as a kind of esthetician, someone who actually spends his time, is trained in a way to deal with qualities. |
Laurie Garrett |
Most Americans think that public health is services for poor people, and since most Americans hate poor people and want all poor people's services destroyed, they hate public health. |
Andrew Card |
She's leaving when the president has one of the highest approval ratings on record. From here, it can only go down. And when it does, you know who they're going to blame. They're gonna blame Andy Card! |
Katharine Hepburn |
We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers - but never blame yourself. It's never your fault. But it's always your fault, because if you wanted to change you're the one who has got to change. |

I feel like the act of trying to understand someone else or something they've done is like dimensionality reduction. Each person has a different transform for the same space of experiences. Basically, people can't go through exactly what you went through, so to understand you they have to imagine and assess what they think are the important parts of what happened. Then if they suck at the reduction or process your experience in a space where high variance explaining components are different than yours (different things are important to them) then they will not understand or appreciate what you do.

I'm not sure if I can be mad at some of them. I feel like they haven't learned how to be self-aware or thoughtful. It's hard for me to make the distinction between something that I should be mad about and something that is just sad that they don't know... like who do I blame for that?
Regardless, I agree the world would be a better place if people were more thoughtful.

The black bear. Gingivitis is an asset (bad breath); poor self-esteem is a liability. I'm rooting for the underdog, though; his self-esteem could use the win.

the world is spiraling quickly to an even wider and more apparent gap in wealth .those who get the money now are going to set themselves and their families up for a better life in the next 100 years. those who stay poor, like me and almost everyone i know, will find it difficult to switch classes in the future. pick your side.
