John C. Maxwell |
There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. 'Good pride' represents our dignity and self-respect. 'Bad pride' is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance. |
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa |
I've never read 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,' although I certainly know what that is. And what I love about that concept is as much as it's a zombie story, it's also 'Pride and Prejudice.' |
Dan Gable |
More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill - none have wrestled without pride. |
Jane Austen |
Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us. |
Carroll O'Connor |
I hate pride, but if I were going to be proud of anything it would have to be something I'd done myself. Race pride is kind of stupid. |
Malcolm X |
Power in defense of freedom is greater than power in behalf of tyranny and oppression, because power, real power, comes from our conviction which produces action, uncompromising action. |
Terry Eagleton |
From the viewpoint of political power, culture is absolutely vital. So vital, indeed, that power cannot operate without it. It is culture, in the sense of the everyday habits and beliefs of a people, which beds power down, makes it appear natural and inevitable, turns it into spontaneous reflex and response. |
Barack Obama |
Tonight, we gather to affirm the greatness of our nation - not because of the height of our skyscrapers, or the power of our military, or the size of our economy. Our pride is based on a very simple premise, summed up in a declaration made over two hundred years ago. |
Frederick William Faber |
Happiness is a great power of holiness. Thus, kind words, by their power of producing happiness, have also a power of producing holiness, and so of winning men to God. |
James Baldwin |
But the relationship of morality and power is a very subtle one. Because ultimately power without morality is no longer power. |

A Coal Power Plant is Being Reopened For Blockchain Mining
Sure, you could mine bitcoin on that old PC in your garage, or you could use a whole power station to do it. It's the work of Australian tech company IOT Group, which has partnered with local power company Hunter Energy on the project. According to The Age, Hunter Energy will recommission the Redbank power station in the Hunter Valley, two hours drive north of Sydney. Once the power plant is reopened (expected to be completed within 12 months), it will offer wholesale or "pre-grid" power prices to blockchain comp...

In a cosmic sense, we're just monkeys on a rock swirling through a void. But weve become self aware and enlightened to our condition. We can give the middle finger to the uncaring void and build monuments to our pride and cleverness.

Contrary to popular belief, LaVeyan Satanism does not involve "devil worship" or worship of any deities. It is an atheistic philosophy that uses the character of Satan as a symbol of pride, carnality, liberty, enlightenment, undefiled wisdom

I am speaking mostly about group and formal interaction rather than intimate one on one. I'm saying that our primal instinct to gain association with strong people makes relationship a game when I would prefer it to be more authentically selfless. If relationship is led so much by our instinct to increase our power, how can we call it love. Plot twist: love is power
